1. Summary
This product bulletin announces the availability of support
for IBM Virtual IO Server (VIOS) with AIX iSCSI and the iSCSI AIX Host
Utilities 3.1 for Native OS. The iSCSI AIX Host Utilities is a set of documentation and
utilities for simplifying configuration and troubleshooting AIX iSCSI
deployments. The iSCSI AIX Host Utilities 3.1 supersedes the iSCSI AIX Host
Utilities 3.0 as well as the iSCSI AIX Support Kit 1.1. 2. What’s
New? The iSCSI AIX Host Utilities 3.1 for Native OS introduces
support for: ·
AIX iSCSI HBA – firmware 2.0.0.57 required, for fixes in order to
support the iSCSI HBA in CFO configurations. The IBM part numbers for these
HBAs are: o
QLogic iSCSI
Expansion Card for BladeCenter (PN 32R1923) o
IBM iSCSI
Copper System P Server Adapter (PN 03N6056) o
IBM iSCSI
Optical System P Server Adapter (PN 03N6058) ·
AIX MPIO – IBM requires use of the AIX iSCSI HBA on both IBM Series P
and IBM BladeCenter JS blade servers. ·
AIX HA/CMP – IBM requires use of the AIX iSCSI HBA for AIX HA/CMP
support with IBM Series P servers. IBM does not support HA/CMP with AIX iSCSI
on the IBM BladeCenter (JS blades), even though IBM offers an iSCSI mezzanine
card for JS blades. ·
Virtual IO Server (VIOS) – VIOS 1.4.1.2
(VIOS 1.4 FixPack 9.2). IBM requires use of the AIX iSCSI HBA for VIOS. 3. Sales Tools

platforms supported by the iSCSI AIX Host Utilities 3.1. for Native OS:
Unsupported platforms The following lists limitations of hardware and software
platform support for the iSCSI AIX Host Utilities 3.1 for Native OS: ·
ALUA with iSCSI is not supported. There is no license, part number,
or price for this product offering. Software Subscription Plans Not applicable. Upgrades Not applicable. New versions of
iSCSI Host Utilities are released periodically. Please see the SAN Support
Matrix for the latest information. Quoting Not applicable. iSCSI Host
Utilities are free of charge. Product Availability NetApp iSCSI Host Utilities and
Support Kits are available for download from NOW™ (NetApp on the Web) free
of charge, with a valid NOW login ID. NetApp
continues to offer the Data ONTAP® iSCSI licenses free of charge to customers
who meet the program requirements. Details of the free iSCSI license
enablement program are available here. iSCSI in Data ONTAP is also
supported over the TCP/IP Off-load Engines (TOEs) and iSCSI Target cards supported by Data ONTAP. Products need to be validated against the Netapp
